Celebrating 50 Years of Community, Culture, and Continuity:
The British Keralites Association (BKA) Golden JubileeCelebrating 50 Years of Community, Culture, and Continuity: The British Keralites Association (BKA) Golden Jubilee
By the Community, For the Community
History The British Keralites Association (BKA) traces its roots back to 1976 with the founding of the Middlesex Malayalee Club, a pioneering initiative by the first generation of Malayalees. This foundation was strengthened in 1983 by the formation of the Southall Keralites Youth Association (SKYA) , which was created mainly by the offspring of that first generation to focus more on youth and sports activities within the Malayalee community. In 1994, these two forward-thinking groups merged to create the Middlesex Keralites Association (MKA), which was ultimately renamed the BKA in 2004. Today, many members of that energetic youth movement remain deeply involved, bridging the gap between the original founders and the next generation of leaders. Through this rich, multigenerational legacy, the BKA actively serves its community by driving initiatives in learning, arts, culture, health, and social care, ensuring that the Malayalam language and their shared cultural heritage are both preserved and celebrated for years to come.
